As most of you are aware, earlier this year we as a company made a commitment to do more for the community and adopted Orangewood Children’s Foundation as part of that effort. On the last Wednesday of each month, volunteers from our Seven Gables community donate towards the specific drive of the month – be it food, clothing or back to school supplies &/or prepare and provide food for the benefit of the young adults OCF supports. While we, and of course the Orangewood folks are always appreciative of your help, today’s show of support was truly beyond expectation.
There were 23 (visible) volunteers and countless others, who gave generously of their time and talents to prepare food for the Potato Bar &/or provide us with an abundance of non-perishable food items in order to restock the OCF kitchen pantry shelves (which by the way, were nearly bare when we arrived).
Sally Picciuto and Melida Canfield were at the Tustin office to deliver piping hot baked potatoes. Barb Salisbury, Sally, Pat Lane (who brought a pumpkin pie), Kathy Boozell and Melida, then helped Lisa load her car full of canned goods, supplies and other items for the lunch. She is so grateful ladies, for your assistance.
When I arrived, the kitchen was absolutely abuzz with everyone working busily to set up the food and stocking the cabinets with a variety of grocery items. Others helped organize the school supply shelves and clothing closets, so that the many younger children visiting today could easily pick and choose their necessities.
There are a few “stand out” individuals who have willingly given up their time one morning a month for the past six months (namely Lisa, Pam, Amanda, Marlo and Kash – though there are others). So on behalf of us all, please accept our heartfelt thanks.
For everyone else who helped out today, in particular: Debbie Johnston, Melida Canfield, Sally Picciuto, Pat & Alison Lane, DeeDee Heath, Kathy Boozell, Teri Rosas, Laura Thorne, Lane Moore, Rose Chu-Fruehauf, Sandy Chang, Kristen Mitchell, Tommy Martinez, Laura Till, Vera Balderrama and Sandra Zimpelmann (& of course Brett Hickman, who was there for all the photo ops) . . . this is what Contributing to Our Communities is all about.
